Workin' It Wednesday - Planning for the Holidays

Nothing makes me happier than planning for the holidays. In fact, as soon as I wrap up my back to school madness, my mind automatically drifts to the holiday season. It can never start soon enough for me. Here's what I'm already doing to get ready, even though I am fully aware it's not even Thanksgiving yet.

1 - Christmas Cards

last year's Christmas card!

One of the first things I do to get ready for Christmas is order our Christmas cards! I like to send them out the day before Thanksgiving, so ordering early gives me plenty of time to design, order, address & stuff! I can't wait to share this year's card this with you all!

2 - Teacher & Hostess Gifts

WASHing You a Merry Holiday {Editable!} Gift Tag

With Ella in Kindergarten this year, as well as ballet & the after school program, we have a lot of teacher gifts to buy. Plus, when you're a teacher, there are a lot of people in your building that you have to buy for as well. For that reason, I decided to pick a gift & buy it in bulk this year. I found this adorable little tag on Teachers Pay Teachers & purchased it. Then I printed it on cardstock & started stocking up on Bath & Body Works holiday soap as soon as I could! Now, I have a stockpile of these ready to go! They'd be perfect as hostess gifts too!

3 - Start Shopping & Wrapping Early

We all know that Christmas is EXPENSIVE. For that reason, I really try to start buying gifts in October. I'm following Andrea's example this year & doing something for the girls to wear, something for the girls to read, and something for them to play with. They already get SO MUCH from our other relatives that I decided that I needed to scale back to save my own sanity. #clutter Buying for the rest of the people on my list though - we have six nieces & nephews now - is overwhelming. So I start early, keep a list, and wrap as I go.

4 - Scheduling

With my family in Virginia & Eric's parents being divorced, scheduling is very important for the holidays. In fact, we plan & pick a date for Eason Christmas with Eric's dad in August! This year, we're trying something different & instead of my parents coming to the country house for Christmas, we're going to celebrate with Eric's mom on Christmas Eve & Christmas Day, then on the 26th we're headed to Virginia for the rest of the week! I'm pretty excited to take a Christmas Holiday!

Thanks Shay & Erika for hosting today's link up!
