Bumpdate: 12 Weeks

So now that you're all in on our big secret... I thought I'd update you all on how things are going!

nothing much to see yet... but trust me, my stomach looks very different

size of the baby: Plum

total weight gain: 4 lbs.

gender: To Be Determined... I'm totally torn on this. Part of me wants a little boy so badly, but then the other part of me is so comfortable with little girls. I can just see myself dressing up Ella & Baby #2 in matching outfits for every holiday. Either way, I'll be happy :)

maternity clothes: Nothing yet. I'm still holding it together in my regular jeans... with them unbuttoned. I did purge my closet last weekend, putting away a ton of stuff that I know I just won't be wearing any time soon & I do have a few pairs of maternity jeans on reserve.

movement: Nothing yet...

sleep: I'm sleeping as well as can be expected with a toddler in the house! I can usually sneak into bed by 9 & get in a solid 8 to 9 hours. I'm hoping that with the start of my second trimester will bring my energy back to me.

missing: My iced tea. So much. Every day.

craving: Sonic Blast & a McDonald's Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Bagel Sandwich. Not together. But I keep on resisting based on the knowledge that each has over 500 calories each. I know there will come a day when I give in though...

symptoms: I might be paranoid, but I swear that my heartburn is already flaring up. I know it didn't start until at least 25 weeks last time, but every time I eat peanut butter or bananas, I feel it. Which sucks because I love peanut butter with bananas.

Ella is: still pretty confused, but slowly catching on. I think it will be easier for her once she can see my belly growing. For now, if you bring up the baby she'll immediately tell you that she isn't going to share her toys.

looking forward to: My parents' visit this weekend, competition, and a good steak afterwards.

best moments: After a very scary situation of not being able to hear the baby's heart beat using the doppler in the office, I had an unexpected ultrasound on Tuesday afternoon. Since I was freaking out, Eric met me at the hospital & he got to see our baby on the screen for the first time. Hearing the heartbeat was a huge relief & it turns out the baby was just resting under my pelvic bone when they tried to use the doppler. Scary, scary stuff - but it's my best moment because everything was fine & I got to catch another glimpse of the babe. It was absolutely amazing to see how much had changed in just four weeks & this time they were able to pull up the 3D images. And runner up best moment was getting weighed at the doctor with a serious pat on the back for staying on track this time around!
