Can You Tell Me How to Get...

It feels like forever ago... but Miss Ella's birthday party was just three weeks ago. And since those three weeks have been a complete blur for us, I'm just getting around to posting about it. #whoops

As you've probably figured out, the theme for Ella's party this year was Sesame Street, inspired by her love of all things Elmo. We had actually gone to a similar birthday party for one of her BFFs earlier this year, so I got tons of ideas from that. But of course, Pinterest was my ultimate inspiration!

We had originally planned to keep it small, with my just my immediate family, then have another small party at Eric's mom's the next day. But, in the end, we invited everyone to my parent's house & I'm so glad we did! Ella loved having all of her favorite people in one place, especially when they were singing to her!

My family loves to BBQ, but grilling at the party can be hectic. I didn't want to put that on Eric or my dad, so I opted for pulled pork instead. I cooked it in the crockpot the day before & it turned out so good. The rest of our menu for the party was...

  • Apps:
    • Bert & Ernie in Their Blankies
    • Rosita's Queso & Salsa
    • Big Bird's Nests (Tostitos Scoops)
    • Veggie Platter
  • Dinner:
    • Pulled Pork Sandwiches
    • Snuffy's Salt Potatoes
    • Mr. Noodle's Mac & Cheese
    • Fruit Salad
    • Wiggle Jiggle Jello Salad
  • Dessert:
    • Cake
    • Abby Cadabby's Magic Wands

Opening gifts took absolutely forever this year! She just wanted to play with everything that she opened, and I felt so mean pushing her onto the next item. It eventually got to the point where I put the gifts from Eric & I aside & had her open them on her actual birthday.

And one of my favorite little touches from the party was our "photo booth." I didn't actually set up a backdrop, but I put the props out for people to snap photos with. It took a little prompting (and a little booze), but once people started it was really fun!

The highlight of the party, for me at least, was singing Happy Birthday to Ella. OMG she LOVED it! Once we finished, she started yelling "MORE MORE"... so we sang it again. And when we finished the second time, she yelled "ITSY"... so we sang her The Itsy Bitsy Spider. Homegirl was in heaven. She would've let us go on all night if Eric hadn't ended the madness!

And in case you're looking to throw a Sesame Street party of your own, here's the list of vendors that I used!
