Sunday School - Throwback Edition

Biggest middle school fashion mistake...

Oh I wish I had a picture of this to share with you because you'd all laugh your butts off... I swear to you, my uniform was baggy khaki pants, an Old Navy 1/4 Zip Logo Fleece, and Adidas sneakers. To top it off, I added a pony tail with bangs that always looked horrible because I never took the time to blow dry them. I really & truly looked like a hot mess. I don't blame all of the boys who didn't want to date me, I totally understand now.

Who were your best friends in high school? Pics?

I went to a very small high school. As in, I graduated with 41 people in my class. I knew everyone. We'd been in classes together since kindergarten. My best friends were basically the same in third grade as they were when I was a senior. While we aren't really that close anymore, they're the people that I can run into at homecoming & have an hour long conversation. We share so much history together. They'll always hold a special place in my heart...

Side note - This was not my prom dress. My dress actually got stepped on & ripped, but luckily I had worn this one to dinner because the other one was so huge. Total crisis...

What was a typical weekend like for you in high school?

Well, my parents owned the only restaurant in town, so I spent a lot of time working there on the weekends. Friday night was the fish fry, so I was washing dishes or waiting tables. Saturday night was "family night" - meaning that nobody else would ever want that shift so my mom, dad, and I would hold down the fort. And Sunday morning was brunch, so I was on call for that too. I honestly can't complain though, all of those hours paid for the brand new car that I got when I turned 16 & all of my best friends were employed by my parents so we were usually working together.

By the time I was a senior, I rotated Saturday night shifts so that I could go hang out with this cutie too...

Yes. This is my husband... as a high school junior on our first vacation together.
Did you have any boyfriends/girlfriends? Tell us about that...

Well, I'm not very exciting. I've been dating that handsome fella up above since I was a senior in high school. I "dated" before that, but nothing serious. Eric was my date to senior prom, attended both my high school & college graduations, and has been on every vacation I've been on for the past 10 years. He's kind of the real deal & I'm glad that we've stuck together all of these years...

If you could relive one day/moment/experience from middle school or high school, what would it be?

This is probably a little more sentimental than they were expecting when they wrote this question, but for Spring Break of eighth grade I went on vacation with my Grandma Ellen & Grandpa Dave to Florida. It was just me & them. I had their complete undivided attention & it was amazing. I really wish I could go back & relive that experience... have a few more days with my grandma soaking up the sun. It's truly one of my absolute fondest vacations. She was diagnosed with breast cancer a year after that trip & it was one of the last we'd ever take together...

  1. I love this! Lord I can relate to the outfit choice; I have mine on video unfortunately. So many good memories though :)

  2. where are you boyfriend jeans from in your recent istagram pic?

  3. I wore baggy pants and adidas too! Your life growing up sounds so fun!

  4. Did you wear Adidas Allstars? Those were so popular when I was in school. I had two pairs in middle school before going "skater" and wearing skate shoes. I thought I was so cool!

  6. One from experiences I never had is working with parents on their business. I always thought that working on parents could help you on your future works. How it was for you? Or maybe you are regretting that you spent so much time there? Didn’t it hurt your studying? Because lately work had hurt mine, so I was forced to use paper service that I choose from reviews on
