Balancing Act

My life is a balancing act. Right now, I'm a juggler. I'm tutoring, staying at home with Ella, blogging, and training. Once cheer season starts & I'm back to school, I'll basically be that guy who crossed the Grand Canyon on a tight rope - teaching, coaching, training, blooging, being a mom, and running a few committees at school. Wanna know a secret though, I wouldn't have it any other way...

Most of my fave TV personalities & celebs are just as busy as I am, if not more so! Rachel Zoe, Tia & Tamera, Giuliana Rancic?  There is no way that any of them sleep. (Speaking of which - a new season starts on The Style Network July 14th - whoop!) My thought process is that if you want to be successful, you need to find a way to fit it all in. Here's how I do it...

Use Technology to Plan & Organize
There are only 24 hours in a day. Squeezing motherhood, teaching, coaching, blogging, and running into them is a challenge. I have to plan. In my case, I utilize technology to make it all happen. I use the Evernote app to share lists with my hubs. I sync my work & personal calendars onto my iPhone. I use the TaskPro app to keep daily to-do lists with me at all times. I always have my phone, so I always have my schedule & info with me!

Make Every Second Count
Between my work email, my personal social media accounts, and all of the email & promo for the blog - I spend a lot of time emailing, tweeting, FBing, and IGing. It's ok - I don't do it while playing with my daughter. I do it during the random spare moments that I encounter throughout the day - it's the beauty of the iPhone! If I'm in line at the grocery store, I send out a few tweets. If I"m riding along in the car, I"m catching up on my social media & e-mails. If Ella is asleep & Eric is zoned out to the TV, I'm preparing posts & lesson planning. I never neglect my family, but if their otherwise preoccupied, I"m taking advantage of it.

Ask for Help
I have an amazing support system in place. My hubs is crazy supportive of my activities, so he works his schedule around mine. We have an amazing babysitter that has Ella full time in the school year & one day a week in the summer. My sister lives nearby & is always willing to help out when I'm overwhelmed. Without these people, I wouldn't be able to pull it off...

Don't Feel Guilty
This is something I really struggled with during my half marathon training. I was getting home from a day of work & coaching at 6:30. I'd feed Ella then pass her off to Eric to head to the gym. I did this 3 nights a week. At first I felt horrible. In my mind I was pushing my responsibilities off on Eric so that I could go treat myself to a workout. Once I confessed this to him though, he assured  me that he didn't resent me, but in fact loved that I was a) staying healthy and b) giving him an opportunity for 1:1 time with Ella. In the end, those runs keep me same some days. Never feel guilty about taking time for yourself.

This post is a part of a paid campaign to promote Tia & Tamera Season 3, premiering July 14th at 8 p.m on The Style Network. All opinions, personal anecdotes, and personal photos are my own.

Here's What To Expect This Season...

For Tia, she embraces her fun, sexy side now that Cree is a little older while she prepares for a new TV series role that will allow her to showcase her comedic chops once again. Tamera begins to stand up more to her sister by expressing her opinions – even if it’s opposite Tia’s – and looks to turn her ability to gab into a full-time gig as a talk show host. As business partners, the sisters are eager to debut their next product line for moms – a cream to help reduce stretch marks. Yet, they have different views on how to run their business which causes tension between the close twins.

And To Celebrate, Here's a Sweepstakes!

  3. I feel overwhelmed with how busy I have gotten and trying to keep up with blogging has just added to that! I can't imagine adding a child or a husband into the mix right now. Remember how I wanted to fast forward!?! Ahhhhh. I was crazy then. Life can slow down now. Hahaha!
