We're Just Boring Like That...

Well Kim & Kanye just had to do it.... Nadine predicted it, I was praying for something better. E! News confirmed that Kimye has in fact named their daughter North. Yes, North West. But don't worry, they're going to call her Nori for short. Because that's totally normal, right?

Let's do something crazy and shocking!
I've already had a 72 day marriage, knock me up & we'll name her North.

I just don't get it. What ever happened to names like Jessica, Sara, Mary, and Michelle? Growing up, Brianne was a pretty exotic name in my town. But, my parents weren't intentionally trying to be crazy. My mom saw it in a baby book & latched onto it. My sister is named Brittany - very normal.

Me: What do you think of your name Ella?
Ella: I love it!

When Eric & I went about naming Ella, we wanted something meaningful. My grandma was named Ellen, and she was one of the most important people in my childhood. I adore her & wanted nothing more than to honor her memory. Thus, we switched the ending to an "a" and ended up with Ella. It's simple. It's easy. It's spell-able... which speaking as a teacher, is important for a kid. And when we decide to have another child, he/she is going to have a normal name too. We're just boring like that...

  1. My kids are Daniel and Christopher ... I guess that pretty much speaks for itself on the normalcy factor!

Maybe it is because I grew up in the era before reality TV, but I most certainly do not 'keep up with the Kartrashians'. :(

  2. I adore the name Ella (I think I've told you that before). I agree that it's "normal" as in, you've heard it before so it isn't too crazy, but it's simple and feminine and she also won't have 3 other Ella's in her class (I'm looking at you Aiden and Jaden). And I cannot believe that I was joking around and predicted the name for their kid. HORRIBLE.

  3. Someday, if I ever have a daughter, she's getting a masculine name, like mine. I absolutely LOOOOVE my name. It's different, but not off the wall.

  4. Your daughter is such a cutie! When I have kids I want them to have a name that is unique (as in there aren't four others in their class) but not so unique no one knows how to spell/say it!

  5. If I have a daughter, Ella is my top name choice :) I absolutely love it and you've got yourself an extremely cute Ella!
